First Pictures

I didn't really know where to start with my new camera. I really wanted to study the manual, do a bit of research and try to secure a copy of photoshop before I started clicking. I kind of felt like I wasn't going to be able to capture any good shots without a little practice, but I think I am just going to jump in with both feet and learn on the way. Here are the first few I took of Margot at the park, untouched:

A little smile;

My Baby

A little silly;

Silly Faces

And just gorgeous;

Gorgeous Girl

I did change the color on this one just for fun, but I haven't decided if I like it better in the sepia tone. I have posted the majority on Flickr, so you guys can check them out and let me know what you like the best!

Daddy and Daughter

Every picture I take of Ben and Margot I feel like it is documenting love; I think that is why I like taking these photos so much. What is your favorite part of taking pictures?

yay! first to comment on a topic I understand completely!!!
what do I love about taking pics? what do I love? what do I love????!!!
everything about it. the fact that you're capturing a moment in time that would be gone forever, except for from memory. and even then, with time, we may not even remember certain important events and tiny memories but with a photo, you're freezing the love, the bliss, the joy for ALL eternity.
those first shots TOTALLY rock, Lauren!
you are a natural and you're only gonna get BETTER!
I love ya guys! :)

I always seem to think when I take a picture that I will always remember how I feel in that moment. Though it doesn't always work out that way, I love the idea of a frozen moment and emotion that lives on inside the image. I LOVE the pics of Ben and Margot it always makes me think of the day that he told us all that you were having a baby. He still looks thrilled, love you guys!

I'm a little late on commenting, but your pictures look gorgeous!!! Of course it helps that your subjects are gorgeous too, but the color and lighting and everything looks beautiful. Are you using the manual settings? If so, you rock!! I still haven't yet... I use the auto setting and then fix it up in Photoshop when I'm done. (I heart Photoshop!) I really need to learn to use the manual settings, though.

Keep shooting! They look awesome! :)
